No. It is an estimate built from 33 U.S. providers' published price lists (sampled Nov 2, 2026) — each range shows the middle 50% of sampled prices — so you can recognize a fair quote, and spot an outlier, when providers respond. Your actual quotes come from local providers and may be lower or higher.
Not necessarily. In our Nov 2026 sample, one provider (Rochester, NY) priced aquamation $50 per weight tier BELOW its flame cremation, one (Tacoma, WA) priced it about 5% above, and an Atlanta provider charges exactly the same for both. Aquamation medians across all sampled providers run slightly higher because aquamation specialists skew premium — the process itself is not inherently pricier. You also typically receive 20–30% more ashes back.
Choose communal cremation if ashes aren't important to you; drop your pet off instead of paying for pickup; start with the included urn and decide on keepsakes later — never on the hardest day. And compare at least two quotes: the spread is real.
